Friends of Kenwood Academy
Friends of Kenwood Academy is a not-for-profit, parent-run organization that raises funds to support Kenwood Academy High School. The mission is to enrich educational and extracurricular activities with outside resources to supplement the limited funding allotted to Kenwood Academy through the public school system. Elsie Hernandez is the current president of the Friends of Kenwood Academy.

Over the years, Friends of Kenwood Academy has provided:
  • College scholarships
  • Enhanced classroom materials
  • Athletic equipment (including the football field and track!)
You Can Help:
Contributions are tax-deductible. If you prefer to write a check, make your check payable to Friends of Kenwood Academy and send it to Ms. Knox at Kenwood Academy High School, 5015 South Blackstone, Chicago, IL, 60615. If you’d like your contribution to be used for something specific, write that on the memo line of your check.

Teachers and coaches can click here to access a Request for Funds form. Complete and return this form via FriendsofKenwood@yahoo.com. Completed forms may also be submitted to Ms. Knox or Ms. Hamilton Doyle.

Scholarship Requests
Students wishing to complete a Scholarship Application for 2007 should contact FriendsofKenwood@yahoo.com to obtain the current eligibility rules and the application.

Friends of Kenwood Academy History
The Friends of Kenwood Academy was formed in December of 1987 as a 501(c)3 – not for profit – organization. Its purpose is to supplement and enrich programs at Kenwood Academy. Membership is open to all who make a monetary contribution to the organization. A volunteer Board of Directors directs the activities of the Friends of Kenwood Academy, including making decisions about how funds are distributed.

  • Develop relationships with benefactors, philanthropists and prospective supporters
  • Serve as the umbrella organization for booster clubs
